Change Tap Services Across Cyprus

Εύρος τιμής:100 € – 300 €

Changing a tap is one of the most common plumbing jobs there is, and on most sinks it's straightforward. The awkward part is usually under the sink: old nuts seized with limescale, very little room to work, and isolation valves that haven't been turned in years. On FixNow you can say which tap you're replacing and if you've already bought the new one.

  • Old tap and corroded hoses removed
  • New flexible connectors and washers fitted
  • Isolation valves checked or replaced
  • Kitchen, basin, bidet and garden taps
  • Tap tightened firmly to the worktop
  • Joints tested under running water

Which tap are you changing?

The work depends a lot on the type of tap and where it's mounted.

  • Basin mixer: fixed through one hole with a threaded rod or stud underneath. Usually comes with its own flexible hoses.
  • Kitchen mixer: same idea, but often taller, with a pull-out spray head and a weight on the hose under the sink. Check the cupboard space before buying.
  • Wall-mounted bath or shower mixer: screws onto two offset elbows coming out of the wall. Most are a standard 150 mm between centres, and the elbows can be adjusted a little.
  • Separate hot and cold pillar taps: common in older bathrooms. Switching to a single mixer may need a different sink or a blanking cap for the spare hole.
  • Outdoor or utility bib tap: threads straight into a wall fitting, often with PTFE tape.

How the swap goes

The plumber closes the isolation valves under the sink. If those don't work, they'll shut off the supply at the main stopcock or at the roof tank outlet. The old tap gets disconnected and taken out, and the area around the hole gets cleaned of scale and old sealant so the new tap sits flat. It's fixed from below, connected up and tested hot and cold. Then they check for drips at every joint with the water running and again after it's been off for a few minutes.

If your isolation valves are stiff or weeping, this is the time to replace them. They're cheap, and it's much easier while everything is already apart.

If you're buying the tap yourself

Keep the box and all the small parts. Check that it suits your water pressure. Some taps are made for high mains pressure and give a feeble flow on a roof tank system, so look for a minimum pressure on the spec sheet. A photo of the sink from above and of the space underneath helps the plumber spot problems before they arrive.

Γιατί να επιλέξετε αυτή την υπηρεσία

Right Fit First Time

Professionals check hole size, worktop thickness and connector length before fitting, avoiding the classic problem of a new tap that wobbles or will not reach the supply.

Seized Fittings Handled

Hard Cypriot water leaves limescale that welds old nuts in place. Experienced plumbers have basin wrenches and techniques to remove them without cracking sinks or ceramic basins.

Clear Offers to Compare

Quotes from local pros show whether they supply the tap or fit yours, so you can weigh price, reviews and availability before accepting anyone.

Protected Payment

The agreed amount stays held with FixNow until you confirm the new tap is fitted and leak-free, and cancelling before work starts gives a full refund.

Συχνές ερωτήσεις

How long does a tap replacement take?
A like-for-like swap on an accessible sink usually takes about an hour. Allow longer if the old nuts are seized with limescale, the isolation valves need replacing or the tap sits in a tight cabinet behind a dishwasher. Wall-mounted or outdoor taps can also take extra time depending on the pipework.
Will a new tap fit my existing sink?
Most modern taps fit a standard single hole, but older sinks may have two holes for separate hot and cold pillar taps. Count the holes and measure the gap before buying, or send photos with your job so the plumber can confirm compatibility or suggest a blanking plate.
Should the flexible hoses be replaced too?
Yes, in most cases. Braided hoses age, especially under sinks where cleaning chemicals are stored, and a burst hose can flood a kitchen quickly. Most new taps come with their own connectors, and fitting fresh isolation valves at the same time is a sensible small extra.
What should I do before the plumber arrives?
Empty the cupboard under the sink, locate your main stop valve and have the new tap boxed and ready if you are supplying it. Make sure there is light and space to work, and mention whether your hot water comes from a solar cylinder or an electric heater.
